President Uhuru to Foot Bills for Victims Injured during Accident Involving His Motorcade on Monday

President Uhuru Kenyatta has offered to foot the bills of accident victims injured during an accident involving his motorcade in Kisii County on Monday.

A traffic police vehicle that was clearing the way for the Head of State’s convoy rammed into a 14-seater matatu in Kisii County on Monday, leaving six people seriously injured.

The president was forced to stop at the scene of the accident for minutes as his security officers rescued those injured, including one of a senior police boss from Kisii. The president’s official ambulance was used to rush the six to Kisii Referral Hospital for treatment.

Kisii Senator Chris Obure, who is the Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Kisii County, said that the President had pledged to take up the cost of medical treatment for those injured. “The president has promised to clear the hospital bills of the victims and he wishes the victims quick recovery,” said senator Obure.

The senator delivered the news at the Christamarian Hospital in Kisii County accompanied by Jubilee Kisii senatorial candidate Charles Nyachae, where they visited some of the victims.

The President’s motorcade was headed back to the Suneka Airstrip to take a flight to Bomet for a rally when the police vehicle collided with the passenger Matatu while taking a U-turn in the middle of the road.
