Embakasi East MP-elect and former long serving Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) Babu Owino on Friday caused drama at National Super Alliance (NASA) press briefing, where he demanded to adress the media at the end of the briefing.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi adressed the press on election rigging claims and on leaving the podium, the former student insisted to adress the nation.
"Chairman, I will add something," the Embakasi East MP-elect insisted.
Some MPs attending the presser could be heard saying "just let him speak". One told Babu to "just come" (asking him to leave the room), but Babu responded: "No! No! No! I have to stay. This is an emotive issue of elections yet you are asking me to come, come where?" An agitated Babu shouted.
Social media went abuzz, some asking Babu not to treat national politics with a university politics mindset.
"Babu Owino has joined politics with the campus mentality. Who will make him understand [Acting Interior CS Fred] Matiang'i is not a Vice Chancellor?," Wambugu wa Kimamo said.
'@or_kelvin' said Babu still thinks he is a student leader.
"You are addressing Kenyans, not [freshmen]."

Babu garnered 45,462 votes to clinch Embakasi East MP seat on an ODM ticket.
