President Uhuru Kenyatta has welcomed his nemesis Raila Odinga of National Super Alliance (NASA) to attend his Swearing-in ceremony to be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Tuesday.
Speaking to the press on Friday, State House Chief of Staff, who is also the head of Committee of Assumption of office of the President said that Raila and six other presidential candidates and their running mates who contested against President Uhuru have also been invited.
“The seven other presidential candidates and their running mates in the last presidential election have been invited for the ceremony,” Joseph Kinyua, the chairman of the 22-member Assumption of Office of the President Committee told journalists at Kasarani on Friday.
The other candidates include Ekuru Aukot, Abduba Dida, Cyrus Jirongo, Joseph Nyaga, Jspheth Kaluyu and prof Michael Wainaina.
“As a state event of the highest importance, the government of Kenya at both levels and across the three branches will be fully represented,"Kinyua added.
Kinyua also pleaded with the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) to abandon the parallel ceremony they plan to use to swear-in Raila as President.
"As a people who would want us to move together as one, we will plead that it is not necessary to have any other public function that day. We can bring out the issues we want discussed later. We should all work towards a cohesive, united Kenyan society, " said Kinyua.
He continued: "The swearing-in of the President on Tuesday is a historic day. Any other function will be like me choosing to have tea, and which is my right, but there will be nothing historic about it."
Kinyua disclosed the inauguration will cost Sh300 million.

Uhuru ako na ujinga mingi sana .... raila has been scheming and plotting day and night now to topple you - he even has a private function where he will swear himself as a "president" ... and now you invite him to this function ... uhuru wants to be liked by everyone - ujinga mtupu
Uhuru has to appear like he is bringing the country together, thats a sideshow which is not a privilege/ favour to Raila at all but a bait.
Like any other citizen of the great country, rao need be there to grace the occasion. He may make all the excuses not to be there and even trivialize it; but invite him and leave his seat vacant throughout the ceremony if he is a no-show. After the president's swearing in, rao may proceed to kibra, jacaranda or uhuru park to meet supporters and get a weekly doze for his ego. No matter how many so called parallel meetings nasa holds, its just an exercise in futility-to close the stable door after the horse has bolted.
