Yale University president, Peter Salovey will be making an official tour to Kenya in March, becoming the first ever senior official of the Ivy League institution to visit the country, since its establishment in 1701.
Kenya gets the highest number of annual students' admission to the American institution in the whole of Africa.
“I’ll be travelling to Kenya with Yale’s President, Peter Salovey, March 14-16. It will be the first ever official trip by a Yale President to Kenya since the university’s founding in 1701,” Yale director for Africa Eddie Mandhry told the Business Daily.
Professor Salovey is the institution's 23rd president and assumed office in July 2013. During his visit to Kenya, Salovey will tour a number of institutions of higher learning as well as meet with Kenyan scholars and top government officials.
Strathmore Business School is among Kenyan institutions that have collaborated with Yale University.
In 2017, 24 Kenyan students joined the prestigious institution ahead of Nigeria’s 23, Zimbabwe (18), Ghana (17) and South Africa (16).
Notable Kenyan Alumnus of Yale University include Hollywood actress and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (Master's Degree in Acting) and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge, who graduated with PhD in Economics.
