The United States has thrown its weight behind the unity pact reached between President Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Odinga announced the news following his meeting with American Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec at his capitol hill office on Wednesday.
"Godec paid me a courtesy call at my office today. We discussed the national reconciliation initiative and how there can be no progress without justice," he wrote on his Twitter page.
He added: "The US has pledged to support us as we proceed with the task of righting the wrongs that have ailed us for far too long."
President Donald Trump administration intervened in on Kenya's political quagmire following government move to disconnect TV stations over Raila's January 30th mock swearing in ceremony.
In a shock move earlier this month, President Uhuru and Raila met in Nairobi and announced they had set their differences aside and would work together to unite the country.
The two went ahead to appoint ambassador Martin Kimani and lawyer Paul Mwangi to steer the bid to reconcile Kenyans.
