A Kisumu-based activist who went on hunger strike last week to protest the deportation of fiery opposition lawyer Miguna Miguna has been rushed to the hospital.
Boniface Ogutu Akach launched the hunger strike on March 30th in a bid to push the government to allow the self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) general back to the country.
Ogutu is reported to have grown weak after going for about seven days without food. Residents ferried him to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital in Kisumu on Friday after finding him unwell.
"I'm just playing my little role as a citizen, human rights defender, a patriotic peacemaker and a nonviolence ambassador," he said at the beginning of the hunger strike.
Through his Twitter, Miguna appreciated Ogutu's commitment, but urged him not to die of hunger as they needed to remove the 'despots' from power.
“The #NRMKe comrades thank Mr. Boniface Akumu for showing total commitment to the struggle. However, I urge him and others not to die. Instead, we must organise, mobilise and remove the despots from their illegitimate positions of power,” wrote Miguna.
Miguna was kicked out of the country two weeks ago hours after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. This came after a similar deportation to Canada on February 6th over his role in the mock swearing on Opposition chief Raila Odinga as people's president on January 30th.

Stop lying Tingatinga.Which NATION needs him?Ogutu kufa nitakunja mathisi yako.
Uongo. Show us his weak body on a hospital bed.
The picture of the advertisement above showing a man's belly hunging depict the state of this so called activist before he went on a deep sleep claiming to be a protest. He has enough potty belly fat to last him a year without eating. This man is a known lazy ass hooligan who goes around Kisumu town inciting youths to destroy non-resident properties.
Self-seekers come in many forms....
My brother Oguto, please your family needs you, your nation needs you, NRM needs you, thats the wrong way to protest, if u die you wil be forgoten after days but if you live and speak like Dr Miguna no one will forget you easily, so eat.
