Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has approved the arrest and prosecution of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong over alleged abuse of office.
Ojamoong and 9 other county officials are accused of irregular acquisition of integrated solid waste management services in the county and flouting procurement procedures, which led to the loss of more than Sh20 million taxpayers cash.
The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) said Ojamoong awarded a tender for waste management to a company registered under the name Madam R Ltd, through single sourcing.
The nine county staffs implicated alongside the Governor include; Timon Otieno Mboga, Bernard Krade Yaite, Lenard Wanda Obimbira, Samuel Osieko Ombui and Allan Okweny Omachari.
Others are Madam R Enterprises Ltd, Edna Adhiambo Odoyo, Renish Achieng Omullo, and Sebastian Hallensleben.
Haji said he was satisfied that there is enough evidence to charge the Ojamoong and the nine county officials with conspiracy to commit economic crime.
“Upon independent review of the file, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to warrant prosecution…,” reads the communication from the DPP.
The approval for prosecution of Ojamoong follows investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), which began in 2016.
Hajj, kudos however we need such energy to prosecute big wigs like waiguru, raila, ruto and the whole NYS, ministry of health saga and many of the corrupt judges and judicial officers.. it’s a good start
