Iranian Envoy to Kenya Hadi Farajvand Busted Trying to Free Terror Suspects
Authorities are investigating Iranian Ambassador to Kenya Hadi Farajvand after he was allegedly busted trying to free two terror suspects.
The Sunday Nation reports that the envoy was allegedly involved in a scheme to free from police custody two Iranian nationals Ahmad Abolfathi Mohammed and Sayed Mansour Mousavi.
Farajvand is said to have given an undisclosed amount of money (bribe) to two people who promised to secure the freedom of the two terror suspects.
The two introduced themselves to Farajvand as senior government officials from the Ministry of Interior.
The two imposters identified as Wesley Kiptanui Kipkemoi and Shemgrant Agyei have already been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and will be arraigned in court on Monday.
The two Iranian terror suspects have been in police custody awaiting a ruling by the Supreme Court on whether to release them or not.
Police say Farajvand has been looking for senior government officials to illegally secure the release of the two.
The two Iranian citizens are suspected to be members of the Quds Force — an elite unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard that carries out covert foreign missions, including terror attacks.
The two suspects claimed they came to Kenya as tourists when they were arrested.
They are linked to a lethal explosive identified as RDX and are accused of planning a terror attack.
A Nairobi court found them guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
However, the sentence was reduced to 15 years in jail after they appealed at the High Court.
When they moved to the Appeals Court, a three-judge bench quashed the sentence and set them free.
This forced the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to move to the Supreme Court to challenge their release.
The apex court allowed the police to hold the suspects until a decision is made on their fate.
The Nation reports that Farajvand was found to have already booked tickets for the two suspects but later canceled them after the plan failed.
Confirming the failed plot, DPP Noordin Haji says: “This is unacceptable and a clear attempt to subvert the course of justice and the rule of law. I intend to notify the Supreme Court about the latest developments because the two are now a flight risk.”

This is the kind of nonsense that reduces our judicial system to a laughing stock. How do learned judges read such disparity from the same case: life imprisonment to 15 years in jail and then to an Appeals Court three judge bench- quashing the sentence and setting the terrorists free. They take the bribes in total disregard of the oath they took to defend our Constitution and the country. By so doing, you're an accomplice in the brutal murder of innocent Kenyans at the hand of terrorists and you should be ashamed of yourselves and resign from office. Our country is for sale to the highest bidder. Ours must be the only country on earth where diplomats have such contempt for our system that they can walk around with bags of money to bribe our government officials. God help us all!
