Nine people including seven foreigners and two Kenyans have been arrested with counterfeit United States currency in Nairobi.
The nine suspects have been apprehended by detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi's Kilimani area on Sunday.
In a statement on Twitter, the DCI says the suspects were nabbed with millions of fake American Dollars.
They have been identified as Bongo Ulerech, Olivier Mango, George Sr Gboe, Richard Kabasili, Egid Musolieva, Timothy Muhumuza, Brian Kimani and Ken Lugwili.
“Nine suspects among them seven foreigners have been arrested in Nairobi’s Kilimani area and millions of fake US Dollars recovered,” says the DCI.
The seven foreigners hail from DRC Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda.
Their arrest comes hours after another operation by DCI sleuths led to the arrest of seven suspects in Kilimani.
Millions of counterfeit US Dollars were also recovered during the sting operation.
The seven suspects are Stephen Mark, Noah Amollo, Ian Otieno, Jotham Mugo, Joseph Majanga, Peter Otieno and Kevin Otieno.
The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday and charged.
You get what you paid for. When the President announced a Visa free entry to Kenya for all Africans what did he have in mind and what did Kenyans expect in return- caravans of tourists flocking from cities like Abuja to see Kenyan wildlife(they have the same wildlife) or truckers bringing cheap commodities like cassava?. The answer is none. What we are witnessing is backlash of a decision by the President that does not make sense at all. No country in the World that can afford an open border policy and that is exactly what he did. Criminals from Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kinshasa, Kampala, N'Djamena, Mogadishu and elsewhere in Africa are flocking to Kenya to do money laundering and other criminal activities at their whim. Half of Kenyan economy is been run with laundered money
