The health status of retired President Daniel Arap Moi has improved since his admission to Nairobi Hospital two weeks ago, his press secretary Lee Njiru has said.
Njiru, who is also the spokesperson of the Moi family, said the former President is still admitted at the facility and looks to be discharged before December.
"Mzee Moi, who is being attended to by a team of medics led by his physician Dr. David Silverstein has recovered. But because of his old age, his doctors feel he should build up his energy before he can be discharged. His medical team is being extra cautious with his care to ensure full recovery,” Njiru said on Monday.
He added: "Since Mzee Moi was readmitted to the hospital, he is getting better each day and we are confident God is taking care of him because of Kenyans’ prayers. We are very hopeful that in the next few days, he will be discharged to return to the care and comfort of his home."
Moi, who recently celebrated his 95th birthday, was readmitted to the hospital’s VIP wing on November 9th, just two days after he had been discharged.
Moi has spent most of his time at the facility in the past two months after he reportedly developed breathing problems. He was first taken to the hospital on October 12th to undergo what Njiru described as routine medical check-ups.
President Kenyatta, who was mentored into politics by Moi, visited him at the hospital on November 15th, where they had a lengthy talk.

This Lee Njiru guy will soon be out of a job. Right now he would rather be keeping vigil of a mannequin in hospital bed hoping no one notices the heart beat disappeared long time ago.
Let him leave us with peace.He messed up with our economy for long time.He killed our pple and displaced us from 1992,1997(Gikuyu pple).He finished coffee,tea,pyrethrum which the gikuyu pple depend on.He brot bad alcohols in the central regions making our young pple confused n he never attempted even once to try to finish it.So with all such evil deeds personally i have no feelings for him.
Uhuru is not doing any better. he is just appointing boards that do nothing while brroside and their ilk squeezes farmers
@Mkenya Halisi
Blame the clashes on your Jomo senior. He and his friends stole your lands and set your people in regions that had their own landless. Why should they vacate their lands for you? You are not special. Lay the blame where it belongs. You forced Jomo jr on Kenyans; look at the misery in the country. Half of Kenyans make Kes 30000 a month. Less that 100,000 make Kes 100,000. Wizi everywhere. We too have no love for Kamau wa Ngengi, General Keguoya and Kamwana Metameta Nje
Are @Sokora and @Sokwe been in hospital since they stole from Rails 3 times or what?
@ Mkenya halisi; Uhuru's dad took all your farms and chased his people to Rift Valley and consolidated assets, and his son Uhuru is doing the same shit his dad did to y'all. You still don't get it! pathetic and toxic!
@Kijanabowen n yaawa baane Yes jomo stoke land but the truth is the gikuyu s bot farms which were left by the whites colonialist.Those shamba never ever belong to kalenjins or riftvalley pples.Jomos gave everyone a chance to come up as a cooperative n try to buy lands as s group which again those lands belonged to white pple who had stollen or allocated themselves which was barren land even before the whites envaded our country?So somebody should not foolishly make a mistake by stating mashamba za riftvalley zilikuwa zao??N history n facts don't lie??Again hii jitu ingojee wakati wake ifike aende to hell for the many problems he caused to kenyans n especially our gikuyu pple who fought for the kenyan independence when other tribes were collaborating with white as traitors.If it wasn't maumau gikuyus hakungekuwa nchi kama kenya mgekuwa bado mnanusa matako ya mbemberu?
so what, he is old and ready to rest. millions of young people died because of this guy, millions more live in poverty because of him, this should be the story
