President Kenyatta has announced the establishment of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), a new office whose task is to oversee key Nairobi County government functions that were transferred to the National government.
NMS will be headed by Major General Mohammed Abdallah Badi, who will be deputized by Physical Planning Principal Secretary Enosh Onyango Momanyi.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi on Wednesday, Uhuru said the office is expected to deliver quality services to Nairobi residents.
“What we are doing is not a favor, it is a service and we must provide it and we cannot turn back and for that, I ask each and every one of you to be committed to the task ahead. It will not be an easy task but with commitment and dedication, honesty and diligence,” said Uhuru.
Uhuru asked General Badi to dismantle the cartels that have taken Nairobi city hostage as well as bring corruption at City Hall to an end.
“The biggest problem that the city faces is corruption and cartels that have a vice-like grip on City Hall…the cartels and corrupt practices have made service delivery almost impossible,” Kenyatta said.
NMS will be in charge of Nairobi County health, transport, public works, and urban planning services. Uhuru pledged to fully support the NMS team to ensure they make Nairobi a better place.
“I know this is a tall order but I pledge that I will ensure that you are fully supported by the government in all ways possible to ensure you achieve this goal,” Uhuru said.

Cannot stop alshabab, selling contraband sugar and charcoal in kisimayu is the qualification.
Sonko is 100% better than this guy.
I wish you mentioned Dr. Kidero (the yet to be Apprehended Prison escapee).😳
The qualifications of this guy include;
1. Cannot stop Alshabab
2. Selling charcoal in Kisamayu
3. Selling contraband sugar
4. Conning Americans
Basically he is a cartel member.
5. Misusing KDF.
The General should use marshal law to clean up the hawkers who sell farm produce on the streets of Nairobi. He should call in the NYS to rebuild the broken city sewer system and beautify all the streets with freshly planted flowers.
He should also enforce 3/4 rule of city commuters to take public transportation and leave the private vehicles at home to reduce the maddening traffic congestion in the city, and in turn cut down on air pollution.
The General should also declare Nairobi to be a cigarette-free smoking environment to minimize the second hand smoke that may cause cancer to by-standers.
Only a military general can drastically make strict “Michuki like rules” to effect good changes in Nairobi.
What are his qualifications? Is he bringing managerial competence or strategic thinking?
