Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has been removed as the Senate Majority Whip.
He was stripped of the position following a parliamentary group meeting held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Tuesday.
Speaking during a press briefing at KICC, Jubilee secretary-general Raphael Tuju said Kang’ata, who will be replaced by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, was axed on various grounds chief among them a breach of confidential matters.
“Senator Kang’ata has tried to give the impression that the reason why he’s being released of his responsibility has something to do with the letter he wrote the president which is not the case. Whatever opinions he had to make were within his rights as a member of the Jubilee party but how he did it was wrong. He should realize that there is decorum, there are ways of dealing with these issues when you want to talk to the leadership of the party, especially if the party official involved is the President,” said Tuju.
He added: “His biggest failure as far as leadership is concerned was discussing private matters with other parties. You don’t kiss and tell. It is that breach of confidentiality that has made his position untenable.”
Kang’ata took over the position in May 2020 following the ouster of Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika.

This shows no matter what Uhuru is trying to do will NOT succeed. Bible scholars, scheme who knows about the schemes and God Plans... Which one prevails... God Plans and that what will stand. Let us all pray that Kenya does not go to the dogs. Prayer moves mountain and BBI has been defeated and Uhuru will try but Heaven has already said NO.
Traitor! Mad man running across the market without clothes on!
Our democracy is bleeding and is in ICU. Our Constitution is trembling in fear as Dynasty is burgeoning on to kill it with a BBI. Uhuru is purging instead of leading. We must bring lawsuit against these clowns. Wanjiku must bring suit against handshake for derailment of our democracy and constitution. Yes it might end up being nothing but symbolic- as our judiciary is already weakened and helplessly corrupt, but it will be on record. When Moi "attacked" our nation with full brown tyranny, we did nothing as a people. He destroyed our country. He chased elected leaders from KANU-finally making Kenya a single party state. He destroyed our people and country as we watched. Raila has been holding his alternative celebrations during our country's major holidays, mass protests and attempt to destroy the IEBC building in Nairobi, mock swearing in as people's president that culminated in violence, looting, burning of vehicles and businesses and beating up innocent wananchi including some deaths; all of these to test if our laws would dare touch him. Our laws are scared of Raila. Now,Uhuru and Raila are busy killing our democracy and are hell bent on shredding our hard won Constitution. Are you gonna stand there and watch Wanjiku being rapped by BBI or are you going to do something?
