Senate Summons Fred Matiang'i over 2022 General Elections

Senate Summons Fred Matiang'i over 2022 General Elections

Senate’s National Security and Defense Committee has summoned Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to shed light on the country’s preparedness for the 2022 general elections.

The committee, which is chaired by Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, has also invited Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Also to be summoned is Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) director George Kinoti.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, a member of the committee, said the four are required to tell the country the preparedness of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), security apparatus, and other agencies ahead of next year’s elections.

The summons follows chaos and violence witnessed during recent by-elections in Juja, Bonchari, Matungu, and Kabuchai constituencies as well as Rurii and London wards.

“It’s only 10 months before the 2022 General Election. From all indications, it looks like it is a hot seat,” said Cherargei.

“What measures are we putting in place to ensure that there is no loss of life and no Post-Election Violence (PEV) will be witnessed again? Is the IEBC ready to do its job? Are the security agencies prepared so that they do not make the mistakes that have been made in the previous elections and by-elections,” he added.

The security forces may be prepared to the “nines” but that means squat as long as the elections are not free and fair there will be trouble. The current president is willing or should I say scheming in all manner and forms so that he stays around if only in the background and the deputy president is a yet to be confirmed murderer but it is widely accepted and known he is a thief. With these two unknowns how can there not be trouble. The former MUST go and the latter dare not assume that seat one Mkale for 24 years is enough ata ngolewa na wheelbarrow ajipate Suogoi.

But be assured that if try to impose Raila, yo will be right inside a real problem.
You better advice your friend to allow the elections to take its own course.
I am wondering why you're not presenting the evidence you seem to have to have your perceived thief arrested and convicted before he goes too far.

The so-called senators do not care about the security/peace of hungry billionaires. They called the meeting just to earn the shs 10000 sitting allowance each. Why didn’t they summon PRIME MURDERER Raila, the sponsor/benefactor of PEV?With the removal of prosecutor Bensuda no one can dare create election violence in Kenya.Muchawi knows very well that the in-coming prosecutor,Khan will indict anybody even for killing a rat that denies him it’s vote.
