Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has firmly asserted his legitimate interests in the affairs of Nairobi County.
The Deputy President emphasizes his deep-rooted ties to the capital and his commitment to ensuring effective governance and improved services for its residents. Divisions have emerged within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party amidst an apparent power struggle between Gachagua and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja. In a recent address at a women's fundraiser held at Nyayo Stadium, Gachagua voiced the pivotal role Nairobi plays as Kenya's capital and the significant personal and financial stakes he holds in the city.
He expressed, "We have homes here, our children have been born here, and we have brought up our kids here. Our wealth is here."
Gachagua affirmed that his office closely monitors the county's affairs in a bid to foster an environment conducive to the well-being of Nairobi's residents. Moreover, the Deputy President acknowledged the recent challenges faced by the city, such as the devastating floods and urged elected leaders to collaborate with the national government in assisting those affected. His remarks highlighted his deep concern for the plight of Nairobi's citizens and their rightful expectation of improved services.
The rift within the UDA party has manifested in the ongoing grassroots elections where Governor Sakaja is facing competition from Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, whom Gachagua reportedly backs. This political tension has also extended to the county assembly where Kenya Kwanza MCAs have split into factions, one aligned with Sakaja and the other with Gachagua. While Gachagua's critics may question his involvement in Nairobi's affairs, his supporters believe that he is committed to restoring the city's glory and ensuring that residents receive the services they deserve.

Hawa ndio Kibaki aliita, “takataka na mavi ya kuku!!”
I give it to him. He’s been doing major damage control PR lately in Mt Kenya region especially after the major SNAFU during the inauguration & continuous attacks on the Kenyattas. Be as it may, he’s just priming his meal ticket before like any politician would. Kenyans, please let’s vote wisely.
This silly guy Rigathi is terribly clueless! I would really hate to have a relative who think, talk and act like him. He is a total shame to Kenya.
All properties owned by majambazi Rai family, expired wauuaji Torroitich and Biwort must be forcefully acquired and sold to compensate Kenya’s flood victims.Today’s floods are results of the three who destroyed Kenyan forests through their RAI PLYWOOD Company which logged Kenyan forests with impunity.
Government of the thieves, for the thieves, by the thieves.
Nairobi having majority slum dwellers will always elect a pro slum governor. Just build a new futuristic city with plans
Nairobi is just a glorified slum.
Electoral fraud is what has hastened the exposure of Nairobi.
