President William Ruto has asserted that he is firmly in control of his government and views challenges as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks.
During a church service in Nyandarua County, Ruto assured Kenyans of his control and commitment to forming an effective cabinet and a government of national unity. This marks his first public appearance since the onset of anti-government protests. The president requested prayers from the public, emphasizing his administration's dedication to Kenya's development. Ruto addressed several key issues during the service. He promised to fund the completion of the Ndogino AIPCA church, acknowledging the potential negative impact of the Harambee ban on such projects.
Ruto stated that the law would undergo public participation to gather input on how leaders can continue supporting church initiatives. He also warned against the sale of hazardous alcoholic beverages, emphasizing that local administrators would be held accountable for the drug trade in their areas. Ruto highlighted strategic changes within the National Police Service to enhance efficiency, particularly in combating alcoholism. He assured the completion of all development projects initiated by his administration in Nyandarua, including the construction of four markets worth Sh200 million by the following year.
The President also announced an allocation of Sh1 billion for electricity connectivity in the current fiscal year, benefiting 14,000 households. Ruto emphasized the increased access to global digital job opportunities for Kenyan youth and his plan to equip all Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions with dormitories. He also mentioned the prohibition of imported agricultural products to protect domestic farmers and directed the release of 1 billion shillings to the KCC organization. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed concern about Nyandarua's neglect by previous administrations and urged the establishment of an affirmative action fund for the region.
The DP supportd the President's efforts against drug and alcohol abuse but laments the reintroduction of illicit brews and toxic drinks. Gachagua criticizes those who disrespect the President and vows to prevent the election of leaders supporting dangerous alcoholic beverages. The Deputy President introduced several Members of Parliament present at the event and condemned the attacks on Kieni MPs' supermarkets during recent protests. Church leaders, including the AIPCA central board chairman and women's leader, have supported President Ruto and his administration, calling on other leaders to emulate his humility in addressing public demands.
