The Kenyan government has unveiled its latest international employment initiative, scheduling nationwide recruitment interviews from November 18 to December 6, 2024.
This announcement emerge from a Cabinet meeting presided over by President William Ruto at State House. The comprehensive recruitment drive will establish centers across all counties, offering opportunities in diverse sectors including healthcare, education, and hospitality. The government has highlighted positions ranging from specialized roles such as nursing and teaching to service-oriented positions in hospitality and transportation.
"A new wave of recruitment will take place between November 18 and December 6, 2024, with the recruitment centres being stationed in all counties across the Republic. The Cabinet encouraged all eligible Kenyans to seize these opportunities, which would not only create pathways for employment but also facilitate skills and technology transfer to Kenya,” the statement reads.
Since July 2023, the program has successfully placed over 105,000 Kenyans in international positions in a bid to address unemployment challenges. In a strategic move to broaden employment horizons, Kenya is actively pursuing new bilateral labor agreements beyond its traditional partner nations of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Negotiations are underway to include emerging markets such as Russia, Poland, and Jordan, potentially creating additional pathways for Kenyan workers abroad.
The Cabinet's commitment to workforce development is further evidenced by its decision to elevate five technical training institutes to national polytechnic status. These institutions - Michuki, Mitunguu, Ol'lessos, Nairobi, and the Research and Technology Institute in Kaimosi - will play a crucial role in preparing candidates for both domestic and international opportunities. Kenya aims to enhance its workforce's global competitiveness and ensure the transfer of valuable skills and technology back to the nation by facilitating international employment while simultaneously strengthening technical education infrastructure.
