Former Press Director Salim Swaleh Makes Public Appeal for Employment

Former Director of Press Service Salim Swaleh, who previously served at Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's office, has made a public plea for employment.

Through a video shared on his X platform account on Tuesday, November 19, Swaleh expressed nostalgia for his previous professional life and its daily routines. The former press director, who had previously captured public attention in August with an emotional video seeking forgiveness, stresses his desire to return to professional life. In his latest appeal, he specifically highlights missing the morning ritual of dressing in suits and heading to work.

His message, which included several mainstream Kenyan television stations as tagged recipients, clearly conveys his eagerness to secure new employment opportunities. The circumstances leading to Swaleh's current situation stem from an incident on June 23 when he was arrested in connection with a fraud case involving Sh 5.8 million at Mudavadi's office. The case unfolded following intelligence that prompted extensive surveillance operations, ultimately resulting in the arrest of Swaleh and other suspects. The charges brought against them included impersonation, fraud, and abuse of office.

Secretary of Strategic Communications Peter Warutere's official statement detailed the investigation process, noting that the arrests were precipitated by a tip-off that alerted security at the OPCS-MFDA Railways Office. This intelligence led to increased surveillance measures aimed at disrupting what were described as "nefarious acts of impersonation and abuse of the facility by the fraudsters." In August, Swaleh apologised to Mudavadi, during which he revealed the emotional distress he had endured since the case became public.
