Elvis Murakana Namenya
Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi is preparing for the burial of her son, Elvis Murakana Namenya, following his death from injuries sustained in a car accident.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at the family residence in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County, commencing at 10 a.m. The funeral cortege will depart from Lee Funeral Home at 7 a.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28, at the Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, starting at 10 a.m. Elvis Namenya, a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University, was expected to graduate in June 2025.
On March 18, while running errands in Kasarani, his vehicle experienced a tyre burst on Thika Road, leading to a collision with guardrails. He was transported to AAR Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, where he underwent surgery. He died a week later from cardiac arrest. The death has prompted widespread expressions of condolence. President William Ruto has offered his support to MP Elachi and her family, invoking Psalm 147:3.
The ODM party, of which Elachi is a member, conveyed its sympathies in a statement expressing solidarity with the family during their time of mourning. Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai shared a message of support on behalf of the Kileleshwa community. Namenya is survived by his siblings and cousins—Silvia, Kelvin, Mwangi, Jemimah, Alex, Tony, Moses, Lauryn, and Faith—along with his nieces and nephews.
“May God grant Beatrice Elachi and family the fortitude and strength to overcome the pain of losing her son Elvis Murakana Namenya. It is such a huge loss to Mheshimiwa. As a party we stand with her during this difficult moment of mourning and grief,” it said.
