Mama Ida Odinga Promises to Help MP Peter Salasya Find a Wife

Mama Ida Odinga has pledged to help Mumias East MP Peter Salasya find a wife after the youthful legislator sought her guidance during a visit to the Odinga family’s Opoda Farm in Siaya County.

Salasya made the request publicly before a gathering at the farm, asking Mama Ida to assist him in finding a woman of good character and beauty, qualities he said he admired in her. Speaking with humour, he expressed his wish to have private discussions with her about his plans for marriage, noting his long-standing intention to settle down.

In her response, Mama Ida assured him that she would take the matter seriously. Referring to the “Daughters of Raila”, a group of women from Suba West who had assembled to honour her late husband, she said she would carefully consider possible matches.

“Ile ombi yako nimesikia… Daughters of Raila, nitachunguza sawasawa,” she told the crowd, prompting cheers and applause.

Salasya’s appeal continues a theme he has spoken about publicly since joining politics. In previous interviews, he has described the type of partner he hopes to marry: a prayerful, supportive and presentable woman willing to share in his political journey. He has often said that while he intends to marry, he is not under pressure to do so.
