Mombasa Woman Representative Asha Hussein has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to marry a second wife in order to set a precedence for Kenyan men on polygamy.
Asha, who spoke when she attended a civic education forum in Mvita, said President Uhuru should set an example by marrying a second wife, stating that polygamy is the best form of marriage.
“Muslims are allowed to marry four wives, we want Christians to marry nine wives like Akuku Danger. There is too much promiscuity in Kenya and the dangers include sexually transmitted diseases,” she said.
She added: “I urge President Kenyatta to lead by example and marry another woman to live in State House. The woman should be introduced to Kenyans in the glare of cameras. Tell us that you support polygamy."
The first time MP further called on Kenyan women to free their husbands by allowing them to marry more wives.
“Tunataka mpango wa kando wawe mabibi. Mr Kenyatta said Christians are also allowed to marry more than one wife but are you ready? Women are you ready to allow polygamy?” she posed.
Her sentiments come days after Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba last week sparked a heated debate after she asked wealthy Kikuyu men to consider marrying many wives.
Wamuchomba said that polygamy would help reduce the number of children being raised in absence of their fathers, which she argued that it has led to serious social problems among the youth, including alcoholism.

More than half of married women in Kenya urban cities cheat on their husbands, especially wives of tycoons. In order to eradicate promiscuity problem in Kenya and to make the country a true democracy and an exemplarily symbol of gender equality in the world Kenya should also allow women to marry more than one husband.
Uhuru please, don't allow this woman "Asha" to tempt you. You and your wife Margaret are Catholics and you know what are the Catholic teachings on that.
Ochi. Remember that: 1. Uhuru (Deliberately) signed the Polygamy Bill and 2. Waiguru has been on the Waiting List.
Heihei Jungwa, wacha fitina. I, for one, stated it here, years ago, that polygamy made a lot of sense, in a way....... but looking at UK and Maggy wake, let them be, she just looks so supportive. The drama queen wives, the vichwa ngumus etc are the ones who need to be made co-wives......
wtf is wrong with these women representative, bure kabisa. If they cannot use this opportunity to better their women constituency, then they need to step down. This is becoming a gossip position, idle talk and perhaps maybe it should be abolished! The other day was another one telling rich kikuyu men to marry many wives, kwani marriage is everything nkt! They are such an embarrassment to the rest of us women talking about medieval customs
@formerly guest 2.Yes what is going on with these lady-representatives?Marriege is apersonal choice.more so the number of spouses. Wives are not merchandise to be peddled around for the highest bidder/richest. What if uhuru is a Christian and is setting agood example for christians?Asha should be busy figuring out away to deter her alshabab brothers from attacking christians and calling them infidels. That will go along way in helping people to live in harmony than suggesting christians act like muslims ,by pilling wives as though thats the sole purpose of life.
Me thinks that these women want to alleviated from their sexual duties so they can concentrate on themselves. Why I even if married to a millionaire want to share that wealth with another woman who will bear children to compete with my children. Why would I want to compete with another woman to get 100% affection from the man I married. These women nu kuchoka wamechoka with the whole marital situation, and want the man out but can't be seen as divorced. The only other way of staying married but not perform the duties is to advocate for the man to get a younger vibrant wife who will be ripe and ready every evening . See women can be calculating. I see that being an angle. I once overhead women somewhere in an occasion huko jamhuri while sipping good wine, saying how they do not mind their men having mpango wa kando because then the mpango plays the part of listening to their men emotional baggage and having boring sex for dubai trip favors ha haha , which at that point they were tired of providing ..heh Kenyan women are wicked ......lol
If you listen to women of a certain age and how they describe their men huko jamhuri , I feel for the men .....ghaaii , all sort of descriptions and purpose on why they are still married to them will baffle one , so I see why second wives are being advocated
Wow this is news to me.Thanks for enlightening me..In that case Ipity those who pay bride price...From what isee and read, ithink the definition of marriage should be changed or broadened.
Siku za mama kukaa nyumbani na watoto are long gone.Man has lost his lofty seat as the head of the house.Dethroned.Welome Parity and Purity as equals.
Interesting angle you have there...As I mentioned elsewhere, this issue is not succumbing to traditional explanations and is being viewed favorably by a segment of the population; there is something propping it up and you could be on to something with that explanation...punda amechoka ehh?
all these independent married women in 254, with their girls night out, almost clubbing same clubs with their daughters, their girl trips to Egypt and other Arabian peninsular, accounts for a certain "I do not have to cook" syndrome with the middle aged wives. So the young wife can do all the marriage shenanigans, and the "older wife" can party 24/7/365, get my drift , be careful what the 2018 polygamy really means , this is real brothers- I know because 80% of my galfriends are doing it ! Be warned
I am curious why this issue isn't dying despite stiff opposition from many. Listening to radio shows or call ins from listeners in 254, I was surprised that there are many callers who seem to agree with these women reps position. What socio-econo-politico reasons could be buoying this call? Could it be that there is a certain segment of the population that thinks strongly and favorably about the polygamy issue, despite opposition by church, society and social media?
@maragA.The issue is not going away because most of the callers are not telling the truth. My take is that awoman who is happily married to one man will only call suggesting that other men,but not her husband marry another woman. And certainly there will be those who want to be taken care of by a rich man instead of struggling with a poor fellow or by herself.
The western world which we africans like so much to emulate did away with this tradition many years ago.
Ihave asked polygamists on this forum to tell me if its necessary to have more than one wife, granted tradition may allow you to do so.Still waiting.
By the way, somebody should tell Asha that promiscuity has to do with ones morals and not singleness. As i have said before, marriage is not for everybody. You make the call.
He should marry Gathoni Wamuchomba as his 2nd wife.
Ngai!! Aisha.....no words. Start with Joho...
“Muslims are allowed to marry four wives, we want Christians to marry nine wives like Akuku Danger. There is too much promiscuity in Kenya and the dangers include sexually transmitted diseases,” she said.Iam i the only one who sees this as an affront to Christianity. How did she reach at figure 9.I Hope not using one example.
First of all if you read the history of Mohammed, one gets the impression that he was "obsessed" with women. It even baffles me why he did not have the wherewith all not to marry a nine year old child -9
You only marry one woman and get one marriage certificate ... after that you can screw anybody on sight starting with the maid, the secretary and that G4S security guard with short hair and bad breath.
In the spirit of “Pursuit of Hapinness”, let people be. You may all bash polygamy but the reality today is worse - too much promiscuity. Just the other day, research showed that the highest number of new HIV/AIDS infections is occurring amongst married couples. What does this mean? Also, men of a certain age will agree with me that there’s a sea change in women values - years ago, in my teenagehood & early adulthood, you really had to sweat to get laid by a damsel. Today, you only need to express it & voila, a bevy of women are more than ready to remove their panties for you. Our women (of course not all) have become way too generous (loose) & if the only way to curb this will be polygamy, then so be it
@Mlachake, whom do these 'loose' women sleep around with? Have men become loose with their morals as well or it's only women? Are women supposed to be the moral-keepers in a relationship?
Aki ujinga mimi uskia from kenya
Why all the fascination woth being a 2nd wife? Dont you deserve to be the 1st wife?
Kenyans muwe macho. what kind of leaders are these we selected into position. a whole WOman rep stands to advice the President to marry a second wife. Shame on you go on marrying 10 men with ur fellow Muslims n leave alone the Kenyan President marriage n Kenya as a whole in peace.
Asha! Pliz go Get married to Uhuru (and become 2nd First Lady).
