Video of Highly Intoxicated Shoeless Lugari MP Ayub Savula Abusing Police during Arrest Emerges Online
A video of an intoxicated Lugari MP Ayub Savula tussling police during his arrest on Friday has emerged online.
In the amateur video, the seemingly inebriated second-term MP is without shoes and is heard hurling insults at the officers who seek to arrest him.
Savula, who is accused of conspiring to defraud the government of Sh122 million, was arrested on Friday evening at an unnamed entertainment joint in Nairobi and is spending the weekend at Muthaiga Police Station before being arraigned in court on Monday.
The MP tells the cops that he will not leave the place until 6am and threatens to report them to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
"I will call the Inspector General. You are supposed to be a police service. Stop being stupid. I will not leave this place until 6 am in the morning. You are paid by taxpayers. If you can do this to me, what else can you do to ordinary Kenyan? You can post this on internet, I don't care," he says.
His arrest comes following investigations into the alleged loss of Sh2.5 billion at the Government Advertising Agency (GAA) under the ministry of Information Communications and Technology.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji says the MP will be charged alongside former Principal Secretary Sammy Itemere and 23 others over the scam.
