[VIDEO] Nairobi Governor Sonko Shows Off Gold-Coated Fittings and Kenyans Online Are Not Amused
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to Facebook to share hotline numbers that residents can call in case of any emergencies caused by the heavy downpour that continue to pound the city.
But it is a video and photos of what appears like gold-coated furniture and other items inside a boardroom that captured the attention of social media users.
Internet users wondered what expensive accessories had to do with hotline numbers, accusing Sonko of being a showoff.
Anne Oloo asked: “What a show of needless opulence. Would it hurt a great deal if you gave the numbers without rubbing it in our faces?”
James Mutia said: “The money that could have fixed drainage in Nairobi has been spent on gold sculptures in your house. Upunzi! Hail the King!!!!”
Grace Asimba Anyango noted: “At first I thought it's Nigerian movie kumbe it's our own Governor’s palace.”
Joy Toto wrote: “Yote ni vanity.”
Joe Karoki stated: “What's connection between the emergency lines and pictures of your gold decked meeting room. The flooded cbd is virtually "unwalkable" whenever it rains.”
Karugu Martin quipped: “All is vanity bwana sonko. Work for Nairobians. It's not yet time to showcase your gold furnished boardroom.”

Stupid voters. They keep electing fools and gangsters as their representatives. How sad!!! Think for yourself. Kenyans are fighting corruption, hunger, floods etc. Meanwhile a politician is showing off their ill gotten wealth and rubbing it on your faces. Sad.
