Shock as Kenyan Man Exhumes Wife’s Body to Sell His Land

Residents of Muthure village in Kiambu County were left in shock after a man exhumed his wife’s body in a bid to sell his land.

The man showed up in the company of police officers and armed with a court order to dig up the grave and transfer his late wife’s remains to a public cemetery.

He claimed he wanted to sell the parcel of land and relocate elsewhere but residents protested, saying the move would leave his children homeless having abandoned them since the death of their mother two years ago.

“We don’t know where he is planning to take the remains of Wambui, it’s only him who knows. But we are saddened by his action since we don’t know where his children will go or live,” one of the villagers said.

The man defended himself saying he had already acquired a piece of land elsewhere and was ready to settle with his family in the new place.

“My plans are to sell this land, then move to another place, I already have the title deed in the house,” the seemingly drunk man said.

But villagers refused to buy his story and demanded to see where the man had bought the alternative parcel of land.
