Self-Declared Miracle Healer 'Babu wa Loliondo' is Dead

Self-proclaimed Tanzanian miracle healer Ambilikile Mwasapile, famously known as Babu wa Loliondo, is dead.
Mwasapile passed away at Digodigo Health Centre in Samunge, Ngorongoro District in Arusha region on Friday aged 86.
His death was confirmed by Ngorongoro District Commissioner Raymond Mangwala, who said the octogenarian died hours after he was taken to the health facility for treatment.
Mwasapile shot to fame about 10 years ago when he claimed that God appeared to him in a dream and showed him a herb that could cure all illnesses, including HIV within seven days.
The retired priest of the Lutheran Church used water and the herb to make a concoction that he sold for 500 Tanzanian shillings per cup.
As word spread of Mwasapile’s supposed ability to cure any ailments, thousands of ailing people including Kenyans trooped to his home in northern Tanzania to have a cup of the drink.
Some people were even taken out of hospital by their relatives who believed they could be cured by Mwasapile but some of them died before seeing him, while others are reported to have died after taking his concoction.
Between 2011 and 2012, Mwasapile had administered the drink to millions of people from Tanzania and neighboring countries including Kenya, Uganda, and Congo. Some of those who visited him were prominent persons who offered him a lot of money but Mwasapile insisted on TSh500, saying he could not go against God’s plan.
