We regret to announce the promotion to glory of Kimani Karangu of Acworth, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 after a short illness at the age of 58.
He was husband to Judy Karangu and father to Maina Karangu, Mwangi Karangu, Wanjiru Karangu, and Josiah Karangu. Father in law to Anne Mugo.
He also leaves behind his; mother Isabella Mwangi; stepmother Anna Karangu; siblings - Elizabeth Gakere, James Karangu, David Karangu, Dr Caroline Waiyaki, and Irungu Karangu; uncle Macharia Karangu; two grandchildren - Christopher Karangu and Charles Mugo.
He was preceded in death by his father, the late Dr. Mwangi Karangu and his first wife, the late Dr. Njeri Karangu.
Kimani was born in Mankato, Minnesota in November, 1962. He moved to Kenya at a young age and grew up in Kangema, Murang’a County, Kenya, before moving back to the United States in 1982. He settled in Baltimore, Maryland where he attended Morgan State University and graduated with a BSC degree in Accounting in 1986. He then moved to Hartford, Connecticut and attended University of Hartford where he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
After completing his master’s degree, Kimani first worked as an accountant with an insurance company in Connecticut before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia and switching careers to become a realtor, where he made his mark by becoming one of the most successful realtors of African descent in the Atlanta metro area. Up until his demise, he was an Associate Real Estate Broker at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (BHGRE) as well as Atlanta Communities Real Estate Brokerage.
A prayer meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 24th at 6pm at the Kenyan American Community Church (KACC) - Baraka Hall. The address is 771 Elberta Dr., Marietta, GA 30066. CDC guidelines will be observed.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 2pm at the KACC church (see address above). CDC guidelines will be observed.
Burial will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. Details will be provided soon.

Very heartbreaking news on the demise of a dear friend of many years. Condolences to his family and friends who loved and respected his humble and diligent disposition. I'm so very sad about losing Kimani Karangu. I remember your joyful, always friendly, outgoing and funny self. It was such a treat to know you. I'll forever cherish your friendship. Rest in peace dear friend. Dance with the angels till we meet again.
