It is with a heavy and profound heart that I reach out to you today. We have unexpectedly lost Joshua Miniga, a beloved brother who meant so much to all who knew him.
As we come together to mourn this profound loss, we are also faced with the practicalities of arranging his repatriation to his loving family in Kenya.
Joshua, a firstborn leaves behind a close-knit family of his parents and 2 younger siblings among a large circle of extended family and friends. He touched countless lives with his kindness, strength and empathy.
Until his demise, Joshua was a first-year student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Science Department, where he studied to become an engineer, which he has always aspired to do.
In his short time here in Canada, Joshua enjoyed the beautiful country, making memories and leaving smiles wherever he went. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, humour, kind and loving heart.
To honour his memory and give him the farewell he deserves, we are seeking your generous support to assist the family in facilitating his funeral expenses which include repatriation of his body home for his final rites, where he will be received with lots of love. For those in Canada, please channel your support to Samwel, e-transfer to rogik2007@gmail.com. A GoFundMe has also been set up. Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/joshua-minigas-funeral-fundraiser.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in alleviating the financial burden for the family during this difficult time.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this heartbreaking period. Let us come together to celebrate the life of Joshua and ensure they are laid to rest with the dignity and respect they deserve.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Eva Nyambane

*Names of His Parents and 2 Brothers are Not mentioned.😭
Thank you all who said a prayer and contributed to allow Joshua’s parents honor their son for one last time. The young man’s parents are Jack & Maria Miniga. His mom is a gospel singer in Kenya…check out Yahya Maria. Thank you all who cared enough to help, even when you did not know the young soldier or the family. May you never lack.
I am so sorry to hear of this. It shows that I can no longer donate
Dear Kenyan Family,
Please stand up and support this family. Don’t just read and move on. Any donation will help Maria & Jack at a minimum, bury her child, even if they may never know what happened. Let us please allow them this small piece of closure.
I have seen your generosity on these streets. And I plead to your better selves, Kenyans for Kenyans, do not leave him alone in NL. Let’s take him home.
Imagine this kid, dared to go out there in NL alone to
pursue Engineering, last year September 2023.
Out of nowhere, he dies, a few days after talking to parents, and less than a year in Canada. The shock and unanswered questions are burdens his parents must carry for the rest of their lives.
Their first child. Can’t think of what his last moments were.
Tuvute pamoja my people.
