Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has reportedly purchased a Sh250 million building located on a prime plot in Nairobi's Central Business District.
The building is the one that landed Waititu's wife Susan Wangare in trouble, leading to her dramatic arrest on Wednesday by City Hall officials, reports The Star.
The Kiambu first lady was arrested alongside 14 others at the premises and were locked in cells for few hours before being charged in a court at City Hall.
Wangare was allegedly supervising alterations to extensions of the seven-storey building located on Koinange Street without requisite approval from City Hall officials.
Waititu is said to have bought the structure from Jamii Bora Bank early this year. The complex hosts, Jamii Bora Bank, Delta hotel and the Fontaine sports bar and grill.
“The owners of the building had an offer of Sh230 million late last year so Waititu came with an improved offer of about Sh250 million. He wants to make part of it a hotel,” a Jamii Bora employee told the Star.
Susan was charged with occupying a building without an occupation certificate — contrary to the City Physical Planning Act.
She denied the charges and was freed on cash bail of Sh80, 000. The case will be mentioned on September 6th.
