Trump Sworn in as 47th President

Donald Trump was inaugurated for a second term as the 47th President of the United States on Monday.

The ceremony took place indoors at the US Capitol's Rotunda due to severe weather conditions and marked a pivotal moment in American political history. At 78 years old, Trump took the oath of office with one hand on a Bible that had been given to him by his mother. The inauguration was witnessed by a select group of prominent figures, including tech industry leaders such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Sundar Pichai.

They were seated alongside members of Trump’s family and cabinet. Musk, a key financial supporter of Trump’s campaign, is expected to play a significant role in the administration's fiscal policies. In contrast to his previous inauguration, Trump was accompanied by outgoing President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

Notable absences included Michelle Obama, while former First Ladies Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush were present. Following his return to power, Trump has pledged to take swift action on immigration and cultural issues. His agenda includes issuing approximately 100 executive orders aimed at reversing Biden's policies. Proposed actions involve declaring a national emergency at the southern border, ending birthright citizenship, and initiating the deportation of undocumented migrants.

Furthermore, Trump plans to recognize only two biological sexes and eliminate federal diversity programs. International representation at the event included leaders such as Argentina's President Javier Milei and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Despite the cold weather, a small group of dedicated supporters, including the Fairchild family from Michigan, gathered on the National Mall to show their support for the new administration.

In a final act before leaving office, Biden issued pardons for family members and key officials, including Anthony Fauci and Mark Milley. He also left a letter for Trump, adhering to the tradition followed by outgoing presidents. As Trump begins his second term, significant changes to both domestic and international policy are anticipated.

His proposed initiatives include introducing sweeping tariffs and reassessing the US aid to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has already expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with Trump, indicating a potential shift towards finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
