National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has maintained that the country must hold a fresh presidential election.
The opposition leader said that a fresh poll "will be the only way for people to get justice".
In a statement on his Facebook page, the former Prime Minister said he held discussions with Daniel Twining, the President of the International Republican Institute and wants a fresh presidential election as ordered by the Supreme Court.
"The political standoff will be well on course to resolution once all stakeholders are well informed of its underlying issues. It was a pleasure to meet a delegation from the International Republican Institute (IRI) led by President Daniel Twining," Raila wrote.
"Also present was Delaware Senator Chris Coons. We held a very candid and productive discussion that centered on the Kenyan political situation with particular emphasis on threats to democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law. The role credible elections play towards the stability of any nation’s democracy was discussed at length."
"Our coalition maintains that justice must be done for our people through the conduction of free and fair elections as ordered by the Supreme Court."
The International Republican Institute is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, and describes itself as an organization that "encourages democracy in places where it is absent, helps democracy become more effective where it is in danger, and shares best practices where democracy is flourishing."
Addressing a forum at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC on Thursday, Raila asked the international community including the US to help Kenya come out of the current political crisis by supporting opposition quest to have a fresh presidential election.
"I have come to Washington to convey a very simple message. We need engagement with many arms of government (US) to help find solutions to the problems Kenya is facing because I am convinced that all is not lost. Kenyans are asking for a fresh and credible election," he said.
Raila is expected to return to Kenya this weekend.

That handshake when analyzed shows Raila is also being dominated by this man who has railas right hand fully covered
Fake Joshua has lost it. He is all over the map. Can somebody remind him to take his med'. Few columns from this one I see 'Raila Says NASA Won't Participate in Fresh Election Even if Supreme Court Annuls Uhuru's October 26th Victory'. Tangaza msimamo fake Joshua you are taking your supporters like Merry Go Round in Six Flags America.
Some of these titles are quite misleading when they get outside of their domain. On the ground in Kenya terms like " president" of " international" are huge; until you get to "institute" and start wondering what country that is. To bring this into perspectives, there are more than ten of such institutes in DC area alone. My point is, Kenya is also well served by its institutes and non-governmental political bodies, lets listen to them for homegrown solutions to our political challenges. Political ideas may be borrowed but a political model is one thing that I believe a nation need to grow from within. Kenya is not short of think tanks; unfortunately their capacity has not been harnessed to built or challenge for the better, but to criticize, fault-finding and aggrandization of the selves.
Non stop bullshit. Election is over. These are very expensive undertaking and the citizens of Kenya have spent far too much trying to please one person. Enough. Go home, retire from politics and be a force for good instead of running from one foreign country to another. Kenya is a sovereign country and the people whom you are crying into have their own major issues within their parties. The thought that the Republican party would give you advise on governance is laughable given the state of politics in the good USA. Go home offer the Wananchi something other than incitement, economic sabotage. How do you create jobs, improve health care for masses. Be a force for the good. Stop issuing non stop threats . Election is over.
Since when did IRI and NGOs in the US become stake holders in Kenya's electoral process to be informed about electoral matters? You, Raila, urged the stake-holders to boycott election and now you want an election on your own terms. Where in the democratic world does that happen?
Raila, you did not meet anyone who represent the US government. The people you claim to have met have zero influence on government policy. Same thing happened to you when you recently went to the UK. But it seems like you do not get the message. Fresh polls in Kenya happened on October 26 as ordered by the Supreme court. The next fresh polls will be in 2022. Keep waiting,
It is my opinion that, Raila will always complain about elections is he loses, had he won the august 8 polls all this madness would not be happening. The problem we have in Africa as a whole, is the sense of entitlement the politicans have, that is if they vie for a seat they must get it. I think some political maturity is necessary.
