DusitD2 Attack: Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Says She Saw Suspicious Persons Days before Siege

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru says she came across suspicious individuals at the DusitD2 hotel five days before terrorist attacked the premises.

Speaking during the burial of Wilfred Kareithi, one of the 21 people killed by gunmen during the siege, Waiguru says she regrets not informing the police about the strangers.

“I was attending a birthday party of a friend when I saw two guys moving around the hotel and my instincts arose since I had dismissed my security detail. They walked around then they left,” she says.

She, however, says she spoke to police after the January 15th attack.

“When I learned of the attack, I gave the investigating agencies information on what I had seen on a Thursday the previous week,” Waiguru notes.

She has called on Kenyans to remain vigilant whenever they are and report any suspicious cases. She has also urged parents who suspect their children have been radicalized to engage authorities.

Somalia-based terror organization Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack citing United States President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

When you see something say something, it’s much easy to say your sorry than to apologize for not saying anything.
