Viagra Ranked Among the Most Ordered Drugs on Kenyan Online Pharmacy Platforms

Sildenafil citrate, better known as Viagra has been ranked as one of the most ordered drugs on Kenyan online pharmacy platforms.

The high number of orders for the drug used to treat erectile dysfunction is due to the anonymity provided by the online platforms.

The online system dubbed ePharmacy was created to help in the distribution of drugs to those who need them but have no access to them.

Drugs ordered through the platforms are shipped to the customers' doorsteps through parcel delivery companies such as G4S.

Pfizer director of regional projects Patrick Holt says the online pharmacy business has thrived due to the high mobile and internet penetration in Kenya.

"Kenya leads in phone internet traffic globally, faster internet in Africa and the Middle East, excellent WiFi hotspots and fast home delivery services. Presence of too many unregulated online pharmacies means everyone should be able to tell what is fake from what is genuine," Holt says as quoted by The Star.

However, not all drugs and medicines can be purchased from the portal due to the strict guidelines spelt out by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
