Prof. George Magoha Sworn-In as New Education Cabinet Secretary

Prof. George Magoha has on Tuesday been sworn-in as the new Cabinet Secretary of Education.

Magoha has taken an oath of office in a swearing-in ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.

The ceremony was conducted by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and witnessed by President Kenyatta, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.

While commending Magoha, President Kenyatta says he looks forward to working with the new CS in implementing the new education curriculum and ensuring the 100 percent transition from primary to secondary schools is achieved.

“We have worked with you in delivering credible exams. I am now counting on you on the 100% transition from primary to secondary schools, good management of resources and in implementing the new curriculum,” says Kenyatta.

Kenyatta says he is confident Magoha will use his vast experience as a public servant to manage resources in the education docket.

Also sworn-in alongside Magoha is the new Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner-General Wycliffe Ogalo.

“We want to see you continue with the ongoing reforms. We believe that there is that ability for you and your fellow officers as well as men and women who serve under you to see how the reformed prisoners can positively contribute to the development of Kenya,” President Uhuru has told Ogalo.

When I was in school eons ago, we studied about the European history, Machiavelli, Napoleon, Catherine the great etc. In geography we learned about the Appalachian mountains, great lakes and the rest of that nonesense which would never help an African in Africa. Plizz they would never give you a visa to come look at those wonders you had to cram in school with your feet in cold water. Never been to Turkana
and I do not understand why they can not feed themselves up there but I have heard there is plenty of water underground to sustain the whole of Kenya for years. My point is we need to learn about stuff that directly concern us and if the new curriculum is wholly bent on this idea lets go for it. If not it will be yet another blunder.

Prof. the honeymoon is over and our eyes are trained on you now. In education there is no getting it wrong, you got to get it right the first time. Education is about the future of the country, our people, national security, food security, our freedoms and our pride. Having made it that high in education courtesy of Kenya and on the shoulders of those before you, do not be a betrayer of the truth.
