Raila is the Next President, Uhuru Declares as Kalonzo Joins Azimio La Umoja Coalition

President Kenyatta has named ODM leader Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.
This comes after Odinga was endorsed as the Azimio la Umoja presidential flagbearer in the August 9th elections, with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka dropping his bid in favor of the ODM leader.
Odinga was endorsed at the Azimio la Umoja Movement National Delegates Convention held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Saturday.
Speaking during the function, President Uhuru, who is also the party leader of Jubilee, exuded confidence that Azimio will form the next government and lauded Kalonzo and other leaders who shelved their presidential ambitions to back Odinga.
“The next president of Kenya will be Raila Amollo Odinga. He has the ability and the willingness and God will enable him to see Kenya move forward while united, to fight corruption and to continue being a respected country across the world. I'm sure that once he takes over, he will not leave his brothers and sisters behind," said Uhuru.
"I want to insist that among all these leaders, none of them doesn't have the capacity to become President, they all do and most of them have abandoned their ambitions for the greater good and unity of the country and more so Kalonzo Musyoka who has withdrawn his ambitions. We thank him and we congratulate him," he added.
During the convention, 21 political parties signed a coalition agreement binding them under Azimio La Umoja coalition. They include ODM, Jubilee, Wiper, NARK, Kanu, Maendeleo Chap Chap, PNU, UPYA, DAP-K, PAA, Muungano, UDM, among others.

I don't think so. Since when did a democratically elected president join opposition, try to change the constitution to favor his future furthermore try to appoint the head of opposition to succeed him. I hope Kenyans are not stupid.

@steve, your understanding of the workings of politics is quite trivial at best.
Uhuru called upon the opposition to help in safeguarding Kenya’s democracy since Ruto had hatched a plan to make Uhuru lose the peoples confidence so Ruto could marshal TangaTanga fools to impeach Uhuru.
Uhuru did what was necessary to keep the country from anarchy created by DP Ruto from within the government. Ruto is a very greedy man.
And yes, baba man will be the 5th president of the Republic of Kenya. Take that statement to your local Bank!

Gatheca. “Uhuru called upon the opposition to safeguard democracy” my foot. Your understanding of workings of politics is quite frivolous. Are you talking about the same opposition who swore ( themselves) in as president? Yet you call that democracy? Democracy does not call to buy off an official opposition party whose Ksh 165 million public money is disburse yearly for their role? The president had his first term running smoothly with much success despite his one usual bottle. All was achieved with the able help of his workaholic DP. The second term was merely a completion of what was started in the first term but this time the president had doubled his usual bottle and and ended buying kitendawili.
Democracy is very sober and fair.

Kiambu mafia mentality 1976. Jomo left like he never existed and Kenyans lived to see 3 presidents. Uhuru is just like vapor in a vape bottle. He is extinct by Aug 10 like Pharaoh and goliath. Kenya shall live.
