Kenyans at Odds Over Uhuru's Private Airport at Northlands City

Kenyans are divided over a photograph of a private airport located in the centre of Northlands City which is linked to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Google satellites reveal the presence of Northlands Aerodrome, an airport situated at coordinates 1°11'29"S 36°58'42"E. This domestic airport features a well-operational runway that can cater to private planes and jets. Adjacent to one end of the runway stands an unmarked structure, which is presumed to be a hangar.

Some Kenyans praise the former President for owning his own airport, seeing it as a valuable investment. Social media user Martor Muriithi notes that this airport is a significant step forward for the Kenyatta family and the Northlands project. However, there are also concerns raised by some Kenyans about the management of the airport as it is situated on private land. There are worries that a small group of people might exploit the private airport to illegally bring in unauthorized goods to the country.

“In many developed countries, private citizens have such runways, as long as it is regulated,” he notes, adding that private enterprises would be willing to pay substantial amounts for its utilization.

The vast expanse of Northlands City, located in Ruiru, spans 11,000 acres and extends from City Cabanas to Ruiru via the Eastern bypass. When finished, this development will include various amenities such as businesses, factories, schools, and residential areas. It remains uncertain whether the Kenyatta family will grant Northlands City residents access to the private airport.

The kenyatta had money, good money before uhuru became president unless you prove he stole what he is using here, better shut up and think more about the real looters drying you up now in the name of "mbontomu up".

Thief, thieves. This selfish Kenyatta family built a dual carriage way from Mombasa road at City Cabanas via Utawala, via Kamakis all the way Thika super highway. When the dual carriage way reaches their land, there is a round about to slow down traffic, then another dual carriage cuts through the vast prime land, built using public resources. What kind of greed is this. Just how much is just enough. My 50 by 100ft plot bought with remnants of double doubles is just enough for me, yet these greedy Kenyattas and Moi bustards own thousands of hectares of land without paying a godamn dime.

Many jobs will be created by this Northland city project.
Hongera Mr President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
I choose to see the positive.

Congratulations to former president. Selflove is very important, most of the people complaining about the project are complaining because the opportunity never came to them. I am sure if the complainers were given the chance, they would also have found a way to help themselves. No one is an Angel and so people should stop behaving like they would have done things differently, that is an act of hypocrisy. As long as he helped the nation in the process of helping himself, I am very okay with it. Tuwache kuwa hypocrites.

In nowhere are people equal. Even fingers of your hands aren't all same length and thickness. If you have a 50x100 ft plot, and I have 5 acres, I have 40 times more land than you. What factor do you want us to use as a limit ?
Further, always know that Kenyatta had 4 wives. Meaning on this Northland's each has 2,750 acres. Kwa akina Uhuru, they are 4 siblings, meaning each has 700 acres. That is very small for an ex President. Shutup and work on your small plot to the fullest.

For those angry and paranoid about the Uhurus arr not genuine. To be rich or born in a rich family is not a crime. Allover humanity existence there are rich/poor people. In the Bible there are scriptures talking if rich Anda poor. In developed countries, there are rich and poor people. We should not appear to be sounding envious or planning evil, firing squads, revolutions, risasi, bloodshed, ooh they are cursed: will it benefit participants, or the nation called Kenya in any way???
Not at all. The family did good things to Kenya, needs to be congratulated. Bad things they did achia Mungu. We have now our own hustler leader Ruto what can we say! Are we better or getting worse each day! Let's all think positive and the rest leave it to God. Pray for one another and thr country.

Great thinker. Wish more projects like this can take place e.g. underground tunnels for road in the Nairobi City to ease road congestion by private companies. Ruto usikie hiyo.

Ignore those who don't understand the struggles behind their freedom. History of Kenya is needed in schools to educate them. However noise ya chara haikosi.

Now this is class! It takes good pedigree to think of such a project. Achana na mwingine hapa with all the resources he only sees maize farming. Truly you can get someone from the bush but not the bush in him. No matter how many renovations (sic).

This is a capital project that will create jobs for both skilled and unskilled as well. Congratulations to our Founders. Thinking Big is an innovation required in the 21st century. This bold step is more actionable than mouth opening noises.

Good example is an African business oriented icon Mr. Dangote, who has constructed oil refinery factory in Africa.

Let's accommodate others good ideas, plans and support them to achieve their dreams.

I think we should fist understand that Uhuru is a child of destiny akin the son of a village chief who gets as much land as he wishes. What we should be looking out for is if he and others including rais Ruto and Raila looted anything. A private airport is a small thing...where they get the money is the elephant in the house.

Nyagah Kiratu (not verified)     Sat, 01/20/2024 @ 11:14pm

Corruption is their thing that is why the bypass passed through their land the sgr ended on their land they have the prime land in the country I believe we are fools before their eyes because they steal the country left and right and the only thing we do is praise them

When Kenya Kwanza desperados invaded the land last year Uhuru's mother was quickly flown out of the country, the family was traumatized. What better way to guarantee a quick exit than having a private airfield? What with the fast growing poverty and restlessness, the privileged families are in for a rough time soon enough.

Congratulations kenyatta family, kenya is competing internationally with such good incentives. Let others emulate this and we move forward.

I hear the Kenyatta's also own an island (isle) in Indian ocean also with an airstrip! Well Mumias sugar courtesy of Booker Tate had an airstrip in its nucleus sugar plantation. So private ownership of airstrips is not knew but owners shouldn't use tax payers money for it's construction!

The oligarchy has come to a full circle. The airport that Jomo Kenyatta built is not good enough for Uhuru his son.
When will this oligarchy sober up?
