Oscar Sudi, Karen Nyamu and Peter Salasya Distribute Food and Cash Ahead of Christmas
Kenyan Members of Parliament and Senators have marked the Christmas season by distributing food and cash to constituents through public events held across several regions.
In Dagoretti, Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu organised a distribution earlier this week, where families received flour and cash support. She said the initiative was intended to share Christmas cheer with residents, with a focus on supporting women who play a central role in household welfare. In a message posted on social media, Nyamu described the exercise as an effort to reach women across Nairobi constituencies.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi hosted a large gathering at his home on 23 December, attracting thousands of residents. Constituents received sacks of food items as they joined the legislator in carols and Christmas celebrations. Sudi said the event was supported by contributions from his friends and used the occasion to encourage unity and generosity within the community.
In Mumias East, MP Peter Salasya also opened his residence to residents for a similar exercise. Large crowds turned up, with some people remaining outside the compound as distribution continued. Ahead of the event, Salasya had shared images showing hundreds of sacks of food prepared for the occasion, indicating the scale of the programme.
Such festive distributions by elected leaders remain common during the Christmas period in Kenya.
