Kalonzo, Gachagua, Oburu Lead Leaders in Consoling Muthama Family
Kenya's political leaders have united to mourn the death of Moses Muthama Nduya, the son of Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu and former Senator Johnson Muthama.
On Thursday, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka led a delegation of senior figures to the Muthama family’s home in Machakos to offer condolences. He was joined by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, ODM leader Oburu Oginga, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr, and Reverend Dorcus Rigathi.
A broad group of legislators, including MPs Robert Mbui, Patrick Makau, Edith Nyenze, Jessica Mbalu, and Senators Dan Maanzo and Karungo Wa Thang'wa, also attended the gathering. The leaders’ presence across party lines highlighted the gravity of the moment, with representatives from Wiper, ODM, and other parties offering their support to the grieving family.
The group included party officials, Members of County Assemblies from Kitui and Machakos, as well as younger party members. In his tribute, Kalonzo described the loss as “a moment of profound sorrow,” recognising the deep pain of losing an only child. He recalled Moses as a young man full of promise, whose life embodied hope, and offered prayers for the family’s strength and peace during this difficult time.
Moses Muthama Nduya collapsed at home on 4 February and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His father, Johnson Muthama, later shared a tribute on social media, describing his son as joyful and diligent.
