Kenyan Man Missing in the US Found Dead

The Kenyan community in Atlanta is mourning the death of Josphat Mbugua, whose disappearance last month had raised widespread concern.

Mbugua was last seen on 25 January along Mayson Turner Road, prompting appeals for information across social media and within diaspora networks. His family confirmed his death on 4 February, following a search that ended in tragedy.

Described as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Mbugua leaves behind his wife Irene, daughters Elaine and Caroline, and granddaughters Briana and Sydney. His relatives expressed gratitude for the support received during the search, while acknowledging the deep pain of their loss.

The cause of his death remains under investigation, with authorities yet to release further details. His family has announced plans to repatriate his remains to Kenya, launching an online fundraiser to assist with the logistical and financial challenges involved.

This tragedy adds to growing concern within the Kenyan diaspora in the United States, where recent cases of missing persons, such as the death of Eric Mutuma Kithaula in Kent, Washington, have also ended in loss.
