Ruto Renames Shauri Moyo Estate After Late MP Johana Ng’eno

President William Ruto has announced that Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo estate will be renamed Johana Ng’eno Boma Yangu Estate in honour of the late Emurua Dikirr MP, who died in a helicopter crash on 6 March.

Speaking during Ng’eno’s burial, Ruto said the renaming recognises the MP’s contributions as chairman of the government’s affordable housing programme, a key initiative aimed at providing accessible homes to Kenyans. The move embeds Ng’eno’s legacy within the city, linking his memory to a project he championed.

Ruto also addressed land disputes in Narok County, particularly in Angata-Barakoi, where violent clashes over a 6,000-acre parcel have resulted in deaths and displacement. He directed the Ministry of Lands to purchase 1,500 acres to settle squatters, acknowledging tensions between Maasai and Kalenjin communities, which have been heightened by allegations of land grabs linked to sugar factory developments.

In addition, the President announced plans to resettle 12,000 families currently living in tents in the Mau Forest, describing the initiative as part of Ng’eno’s vision to address land and housing challenges.
