From Watchman to US Navy: Jackson Maina’s Life-Changing Green Card Story
Jackson Maina, known as Prince Jack, has joined the US Navy after relocating from Kenya through the Diversity Visa Lottery programme.
Maina grew up in Kenya, where he worked as a watchman earning a modest wage and faced limited opportunities. Despite these challenges, he believed his circumstances did not determine his future.
Acting on that conviction, he applied for the Diversity Visa Lottery and was selected, receiving a Green Card that allowed him to move to the United States. Adjusting to life in the US brought both opportunities and difficulties.
Maina pursued a career in the US Navy, a path that offered stability but required discipline and resilience. Adapting to a new country and building a life from scratch demanded persistence, and Maina drew strength from his faith, often citing the biblical verse Jeremiah 17:7 as guidance. He encourages others to remain hopeful even in difficult situations.
