CCTV Footage Shows Final Moments of 22-Year-Old Woman Before Fatal Fall from Kileleshwa Airbnb

Police in Nairobi are investigating the death of 22-year-old university student and social media personality Consolata Githinji, who fell from the sixth floor of a short-stay apartment in Kileleshwa early on 26 April.

CCTV footage reviewed by detectives outlines the sequence of events leading up to her death. At 4:11 a.m., a security guard is seen on routine patrol. Minutes later, Consolata arrives with a 33-year-old man identified as Tony Odhiambo. The guard assists them in accessing a keybox believed to hold the apartment keys, after which they proceed to a sixth-floor unit.

Footage later shows activity near the apartment doorway at 4:32 a.m. The guard enters the unit at 4:34 a.m., leaves nine minutes later, and returns briefly at 4:46 a.m. Investigators believe this marks the final recorded moment before Consolata fell. Tony told police he found her standing at a bedroom window and said she jumped before he could stop her.

Earlier that night, Consolata posted her final WhatsApp status at 12:08 a.m. The image, taken inside the apartment lift, shows her wearing a brown top, a black coat, and a wig. It carried no caption but has since been widely shared by friends and followers.

Tony has been arrested as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations continue their inquiry. Authorities have said that the apartment was not booked in his name. Investigators are examining forensic evidence, witness accounts, and surveillance footage to determine whether the fall was accidental, self-inflicted, or involved foul play.
