MC Jessy Set for UK Festival Headline Show
Kenyan MC Jasper Muthomi is gaining international recognition as the country’s event hosting industry grows into a structured and high-value profession.
The role of the Master of Ceremonies in Kenya has shifted from a largely entertainment-based function to a professional field that combines humour, diplomacy, and corporate discipline. Jessy’s career reflects this change.
He began in comedy, notably on Churchill Raw, before moving into corporate and international events. His style balances audience engagement with formal presentation, making him suitable for diverse settings.
His academic background has strengthened his professional profile. A communications degree from Daystar University equips him with skills in etiquette and crisis management, which are valued by corporate clients.
As a result, high-level engagements in the industry now command fees ranging from KSh 150,000 to KSh 300,000. This development aligns with changes in Kenya’s education system.
The Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) promotes skills such as communication, collaboration, and creativity. It also introduces pathways like Arts and Sports Science, which support students with strengths in public speaking and performance.
Jessy’s work extends to the Kenyan diaspora. He regularly hosts events in cities such as London and Dallas, where organisers seek culturally relevant content. His scheduled appearance at the Ngemi CIA UK Homecoming Festival on 29 August 2026 follows a series of engagements in the United States in 2023.
Other Kenyan MCs are also shaping the industry. MC Gogo appeals to younger audiences through a strong online presence, while MC Price focuses on corporate events. MC Kwambox combines radio work with live hosting. Digital creators such as the Sandwich Podcast Crew are also moving into live performances.
The global context reflects a similar trend. Steve Harvey transitioned from stand-up comedy to hosting international events, including the Miss Universe pageant. This progression highlights how MCs can develop into widely recognised public figures.
Beyond hosting, Jessy has expanded into business and public life. His digital platform Jessy Junction supports his brand, while his parliamentary bid in 2022 demonstrated broader ambitions.
