Kenya to Host Virtual Investment Forum for Citizens in Gulf Countries
Kenya’s State Department for Diaspora Affairs will host a virtual investment forum for Kenyans living in Gulf countries on 23 May 2026 at 5:00 p.m Gulf time.
The session, organised with the Embassy of Kenya in Abu Dhabi, will focus on the work of the Diaspora Investment Support Office (DISO) and opportunities for diaspora-led investment in Kenya. The webinar is intended to introduce participants to government programmes designed to support investment by Kenyans living abroad.
Officials will outline DISO’s role in helping diaspora investors access opportunities in sectors including agribusiness, real estate, technology and manufacturing. DISO was established to connect diaspora investors with government institutions and provide support throughout the investment process.
The office offers guidance on regulatory procedures, access to information and investment protection measures. The government says these services are aimed at encouraging diaspora remittances to be channelled into long-term investments that support economic development.
The Gulf region hosts a large Kenyan diaspora community whose remittances contribute significantly to household incomes and community projects across Kenya. Officials say initiatives such as the webinar are intended to encourage greater participation in business and investment ventures beyond remittance transfers.
The forum will also allow participants to engage directly with officials, raise concerns and seek clarification on investment opportunities and priority sectors identified for diaspora participation. Organisers said the session is open to all Kenyans living in Gulf countries, with registration required to receive joining details.
