Body of Missing Kenyan Recovered From Georgia's Lake Allatoona

Authorities in Georgia have recovered the body of a 28-year-old Kenyan man who went missing after falling from a boat on Lake Allatoona during a recreational outing.

The victim, Fidel Ojwang of Lilburn, was found early on Monday after an extensive search by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Bartow County Fire and Rescue. Emergency crews were called shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports that he had fallen from a ski boat near Glade Marina and had not resurfaced.

Search teams used specialised boats fitted with SONAR equipment to search the lake for several hours. Game wardens later located Ojwang at a depth of about 60 feet. A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was used to recover his body, which was then taken to the Bartow County Coroner's Office for examination.

Officials said the cause of death has not yet been determined, and the investigation into the circumstances of the incident is continuing. Ojwang's death has deeply affected members of Georgia's Kenyan community, where he was known to many.
