Woman Accuses OCS of Pushing Her From 6th-Floor Balcony

A senior police officer is under investigation after her partner alleged that she assaulted her before she fell from a sixth-floor balcony, leaving her with life-changing injuries. 

The woman, Nicole Akinyi, 27, is receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Nicole alleges that Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Agnes Muthigani Ndanu assaulted her during an argument before pushing her from the balcony of the officer's apartment. She suffered serious injuries, including a spinal fracture that has left her paralysed.

Detectives at Kasarani Police Station have identified Ms Ndanu as a person of interest. District Criminal Investigations Officer Aloyce Mboya said investigators are examining the events before and after the fall, with Nicole's account forming a key part of the inquiry. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has also opened a separate investigation but has not commented publicly on its progress.

According to Nicole, the incident followed a night out when an argument began over her interactions with male friends. She alleges that Ms Ndanu struck her with a broken bottle, locked her inside the apartment and prevented her from contacting her family.

Nicole said she later tried to alert neighbours from the balcony after failing to get help. She claims Ms Ndanu pulled her back inside before pushing her over the edge. Witnesses allege that Ms Ndanu later attempted to place Nicole in her car before neighbours intervened and accused her of attempted murder.

Nicole's family say the incident followed a pattern of abuse and intimidation throughout the relationship. They allege that Ms Ndanu used her position in the police service to discourage complaints and threatened Nicole's relatives whenever she tried to leave.

Friends have shared videos and photographs showing Ms Ndanu's lifestyle, while Nicole had previously posted images of injuries on social media. In those posts, she appealed for help and described herself as a victim of gender-based violence. Nicole's family are calling for justice as investigations continue.
