Kenyan Adventurer Polyn Monda Conquers Norway’s Famous Kjeragbolten Boulder Trek

A Kenyan adventurer has completed the challenging trek to Kjeragbolten, one of Norway's best-known natural landmarks.

Polyn Monda, from Baringo Central, reached the suspended boulder after hiking through the mountainous terrain above the Lysefjord in southwestern Norway. The hike to Kjeragbolten is widely regarded as one of Norway's more demanding mountain trails.

The return route covers between 10 and 12 kilometres and includes steep climbs, exposed sections and rapidly changing weather conditions. Although climbers do not normally need ropes or specialist equipment, the trail requires good fitness, balance and careful footing throughout the journey.

The destination is Kjeragbolten, a large boulder wedged between two cliffs almost 1,000 metres above the Lysefjord. The rock is estimated to weigh around five million kilograms and is among Norway's most photographed natural attractions. Visitors who reach it are rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and fjord.

Standing on the boulder has become a popular challenge for adventure travellers and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. Thousands visit the site each year to experience the landmark and capture photographs from its distinctive position. By completing the trek, Monda joins those who have reached one of Norway's most recognised outdoor destinations.
