Kenyan Diaspora Comes Together for Major UK Cultural Festival

Thousands of Kenyans living in Britain will gather at Horspath Sports Ground in Oxford on 15 August for the second Kenyans in the UK Festival, a one-day event celebrating Kenyan music, food, business and culture.

The festival has grown from a small community initiative into one of the largest events for Kenyans in Britain. Organisers say it aims to strengthen community ties, promote Kenyan culture and provide a space where people can connect with their heritage. Its expansion reflects the growing presence of the Kenyan diaspora in the UK and its increasing involvement in cultural and business activities.

Music will be a central part of the programme. Kenyan artists Nadia Mukami and Addeh Prince will headline the event, alongside UK-based DJs including DJ Thew, DJ Mugodee and DJ Febian. The performances will feature Afrobeat, Amapiano, Gengetone and contemporary Kenyan music, bringing together artists from Kenya and the UK.

Food will also play an important role in the event. Vendors will serve Kenyan dishes including nyama choma, pilau and samosas, giving attendees a familiar taste of home. For younger people born in the UK, the food offers a direct connection to Kenyan traditions and family heritage.

The festival will also provide opportunities for Kenyan businesses and creative professionals based in Britain. Exhibitors will showcase their products and services, meet customers and build new business connections. Organisers say the event is intended to support entrepreneurship while promoting Kenyan talent.
