Massachusetts Authorities Seek Family of Kenyan Man Who Died in Boston

Authorities in Massachusetts are seeking relatives of Kenyan national Joachim “Jimmy” Waweru Nganga, who died in Boston nearly three weeks ago. 

His remains are being held by state officials pending contact with a family member who can authorise his release and final arrangements. Jimmy was known to have connections in both the United States and Kenya, but authorities have so far been unable to identify or reach his immediate family. His remains cannot be released for burial until a relative has been located and contacted.

The appeal has been extended to the Kenyan diaspora across the United States and to people in Kenya who may have known Jimmy or have information about his family. Community leaders and friends are urging former colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances to come forward with any information that could help identify his relatives.

They are also asking people to share the appeal through Kenyan community groups, churches and online networks. Even limited information could help authorities establish contact with Jimmy’s family and allow arrangements for his burial to proceed.
