Sarah Kaita’s Body Finally Arrives in Bungoma After 37 Days in Qatar

The body of Sarah Nangila Kaita has been returned to her family in Bungoma, one month and seven days after she died in Qatar.

Sarah, a mother of three, had remained in Qatar as her relatives worked to secure the repatriation of her remains. The process was prolonged by bureaucratic and logistical challenges, leaving the family waiting for her return.

Her family expressed relief and gratitude after her remains arrived in Kenya. One relative thanked those who helped bring Sarah home, particularly Bungoma MP John Makale.

“I am so happy my auntie is finally home. After one month and seven days in Qatar, the journey was not easy, but through our MP John Makale, now Sarah is back home. To God be the glory,” the relative said.

According to the family, Makale’s intervention helped resolve the difficulties surrounding the repatriation. His involvement provided practical assistance as the family dealt with the procedures required to bring Sarah’s remains back to Kenya.

The case reflects the challenges families can face when a relative dies abroad. Repatriating remains can involve foreign legal procedures, financial costs, documentation requirements and coordination between different authorities. For Sarah’s family, the extended wait added to the difficulty of mourning her death.

With her remains now back in Bungoma, the family can proceed with funeral arrangements. Her children, relatives and members of the community will have the opportunity to pay their final respects.

The family has thanked those who supported them during the difficult period and appealed for continued prayers and support as they prepare to lay Sarah to rest.
