Music, Fashion and Kikuyu Culture to Take Centre Stage at Ngemi Cia UK

The Ngemi Cia UK Homecoming Festival will return to Stoneleigh Park’s NAEC venue, bringing together Kenyans from across Britain for a day of music, comedy and cultural activities.

The second edition will feature performances by Samidoh, Njugush, MC Jessy, Steve Rogers and Wanja Asali, with support from Ziki Band, Dubafriaque Band and Big Live Band. DJs and MCs including DJ Dibul, DJ Gad, DVJ Duez, DJ Joe Morris and MC Smart will also perform during the event.

For Kenyans living in Britain, the festival will provide an opportunity to watch popular Kenyan artists without travelling to Kenya. Live performances will form a central part of the programme, alongside activities aimed at bringing members of the diaspora together.

The event will also include a street food village serving Kenyan dishes such as nyama choma and ugali. A Kikuyu-inspired fashion parade will feature traditional fabrics, beadwork and shukas alongside contemporary designs.

The organisers have included cultural activities intended to connect younger generations with Kenyan heritage. Kikuyu language and storytelling will form part of the programme, giving children and young adults an opportunity to experience aspects of the culture in a UK setting.

The festival will be family-friendly, with dedicated areas for parents and children. Its marketplace and exhibition spaces will also provide opportunities for businesses and creatives to showcase their products and work to members of the Kenyan diaspora.

Ngemi Cia UK combines entertainment with cultural and community activities, bringing together music, food, fashion, language, family events and business opportunities under one programme. The second edition will therefore offer more than live performances, providing a space for Kenyans in Britain to meet, celebrate their heritage and share aspects of their culture with younger generations.
