Kenya Mission in Canada Strengthens Ties With Diaspora Community
Kenya’s High Commission in Canada has reaffirmed its commitment to engaging the Kenyan diaspora during a community summer barbecue in the National Capital Region.
On 30 August, Ambassador Geoffrey Kaituko joined High Commission staff and members of the Kenyan community at the event, which brought together families, students and professionals for networking and cultural exchange. Kaituko praised the leadership of the National Capital Region chapter for promoting unity and cohesion among Kenyans in Canada.
He also reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to maintaining active engagement with the diaspora and ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of Kenyans abroad remain part of Kenya’s foreign policy agenda. The barbecue also provided an opportunity for participants to celebrate their cultural heritage and strengthen connections within the community.
Through food, conversation and community activities, attendees maintained links with Kenya while building relationships with fellow members of the diaspora. Diaspora engagement is an important part of Kenya’s international relations. Kenyans living abroad contribute to the country through remittances, investment, professional expertise and international networks.
Community events such as the Ottawa-area barbecue provide opportunities to strengthen these connections and support wider engagement between Kenya and its citizens overseas.
